Notes:
Bharata returned from a trip to find his father dead and brother banished. Kaikeyi tries to tell her son all the great things she has done for him but he is very angry with her.
Bharata tries to get Rama to return but Rama believes he must follow through on what his father told him.
Rama won't leave the jungle and now Bharata won't return home either. Rama's sandals are used as an object placeholder for Rama on the throne.
Sita impresses an ancient priestess.
Viradha steals away Sita. It is interesting how mad Rama gets because he usually is very calm and boring. Rama and Lakshmana put Viradha in a hole where Viradha says that Rama has broken his curse and he goes up into the heavens.
Agastya tells Rama to take special care of Sita.
Shurpanakha, Ravana's sister, decides she is in love with Rama. (It doesn't make a lot of sense to me that Lakshmana should be with Shurpanakha if he is also already married. Just because his wife is not with him means he can find another wife? I thought Rama said earlier that you cannot think you are a widow just because your significant other is out of sight.)
Rama wins another battle.
Shurpanakha tells Ravana all that has happened.
Ravana seeks out Maricha, another from Rama's past, to help destroy him. Initially Maricha is hesitant because he knows the power of Rama but eventually gives in. Sita sees the deer and asks Rama to get it. Lakshmana feels that something is wrong. Sita convinces Lakshmana to go help Rama even though he knows it is a ruse.
Ravana disguises himself as a brahmin and tricks the now alone Sita. He takes her and tries to get her to accept him.
Another rakshasa fights the brothers where they find it is another one cursed as a monster. The brothers meet Shabari.
Part B was a little harder to take notes. More action and parts that I thought I might need to write my story.
Prose is much easier to read than verse.
